Course description
The goal of linguistic phylogenetics is to estimate the ancestral relationships among the world’s languages. The methodological arsenal for making inferences about linguistic history has changed dramatically in last twenty years. This course examines recent developments in linguistic phylogenetics and provides a hands-on introduction to maximum likelihood and Bayesian methods of phylogenetic estimation.
